For pigs
Pig sheds
Quality by choice
For almost 50 years, Officine Meccaniche Vettorello Luciano & C. have been designing and constructing premium prefabricated sheds for livestock use: poultry, cattle and pigs.
Pig sheds are a particular challenge and have to take into account numerous variables such as animal size, food and water requirements, live weight, etc. In addition, it is necessary to consider the production activities: i.e. whether the facility will house pigs for fattening, meat or industrial use. An essential factor, however, is quality; a choice and not a coincidence.
Microclimate control
Microclimate control is essential when thermal changes can negatively affect the livestock. Ventilation can be forced, or ensured by adequate fenestration, with cooling systems.
Litter systems
Litter systems are back in vogue, thanks to sophisticated new manure management systems. The animals have critical temperatures below the norm, resulting in considerable management savings.
Equipment and accessories
For optimal management, pigsties require a lot of space and accessories: for example, feed trolleys with wheels, piglet trolleys, mechanical or hydraulic loading ramps, farrowing boxes for free sows, and flooring.
Sows sector
The new regulations place great importance on the welfare of the sows, so the design must take into account the space, the different feeding systems, the type of housing, the flooring and the microclimate.
Prefabricated sheds
Pig breeding sheds
Organic as well as traditional animal husbandry promote animal welfare, on which the economic performance of livestock production depends. Vettorello & C. have studied the issue to adapt the structures to the new requirements.
The priority, therefore, is to construct prefabricated sheds which respond to the many needs of the pigs and, in particular, of the sows and piglets. The structure itself becomes a production variable.
For this reason, Vettorello & C. has designed a pig shed, a hot-dip galvanised steel structure with transverse tie-rod connection and cladding in polyurethane sandwich panels with the internal side in corrosion-proof plastic-coated sheet or fibreglass.
The windows are hopper-type with tilting opening for ventilation and hydraulic emergency opening. The metalwork for infills and finishes is in stainless steel for optimum resistance to the corrosive environment.
The organisation of the shed, favouring animal welfare and the functionality of the spaces, can positively influence commercial productivity and protect food safety.
There are also feeding systems, feeding troughs, stainless steel hoppers and computer-controlled dry or liquid feeding systems. Technology is constantly offering new products; the technicians at Vettorello & C. can explain the advantages to you. Call for a consultation and get a free quote. Contact us.
