Modern, functional barns
Officine Meccaniche Vettorello & C. are well known in Italy and abroad for the construction and refurbishment of sheds for cattle, pigs and poultry, as well as for steel fabrication.
In particular, we undertake the construction of modern and functional barns, where animal welfare (feeding, rest, stress-free environment) is combined with efficiency, facilitating the work of the operators. Each prefabricated shed is constructed according to the needs of the animals, since their welfare is strictly related to higher quality production for the benefit of human health.
Dairy cattle sheds
These are complex sheds with a lot of ancillary rooms and equipment: stable, milking room, dairy, plant room, shoe washing station, and enclosures for specific purposes such as the delivery room or the space for calves.
Beef cattle sheds
These are prefabricated structures with a minimum height of 3 m (4.5 m recommended) with natural and artificial lighting giving average illuminance levels of 150 lux. Projects are planned for organic farming and energy saving.
Animal housing systems
Once the use of the barn has been decided, the necessary equipment can be designed: fixed or loose housing systems, boxes for calves and replacements, and equipment for watering and the mother-calf pair.
Cooling systems
Heat stress is reduced by effective cooling systems, avoiding waste of water and energy, improving the productivity and reproductivity of the animals, in order to obtain the maximum economic yield of the stock.

Projects by Vettorello & C. are cutting-edge solutions, because technology is constantly offering new ways to improve the economic yield of farms with prefabricated structures that become a key factor in production.
We take up the challenges of the future to build sheds for livestock use with advanced functionality, to facilitate the work of operators and protect the welfare of animals under European regulations, collected by the Italian Ministry of Health. This is considered essential to achieve an adequate level of food safety.
The building is, therefore, not irrelevant, but a fundamental variable providing the cattle with adequately equipped spaces for feeding and resting, for calving and rearing calves; sufficiently cooled and stress-free. Naturally, organic farming guarantees a higher degree of natural well-being.
With this in mind, we have recently created a prefabricated structure for livestock use: a hot-dip galvanised steel structure with transverse tie rods and sash windows.
The windows are equipped with polycarbonate slats and stainless steel U-profiles. The internal dividers for boxes and connecting gates are built with hot-dip galvanised tubes and studs. Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic polymer, used as a substitute for glass. It has properties of transparency, hardness and thermal and mechanical resistance.
This shed has proved to be stable, durable (i.e. low maintenance) and very functional in response to different requirements.
